Linkpoint Payment Gateway thru XCART

We recently wanted to change companies that process our credit card, not that there was a problem with the one we currently use, we were just looking for a lower rate. We did some searching and came across a company that looked like what we needed. The company is Linkpoint. Before I go on this is our opinion only and our experience we had with them. I’m sure they are a good company but I just wanted to let you know how our experience went with them. We called them up and talked to sales rep. and what he told us and the rates he gave us was just what we were looking for. We signed on with them and were approved within a few minutes. Gave them a $30 signup fee and lust waited on a email with all the info to get going.

The next day we got all the info we need to get started. But was even better our shopping already had them installed as a payment gateway. (XCART) We configured them into our cart and processed a test order and that’s when it fell apart. The test order didn’t work. We tried everything we new what to do, but still nothing. Well, this was a Saturday so we had to wait until Monday for any help.

Monday came along and we called Linkpoint tech department. That was a joke. I told them we use xcart and we were having problems getting a test order to work. The first words out of his mouth were “did you call xcart”. Well no, I don’t think the problem is my shopping cart because other payment gateways work fine. Then he said, “oh, did you sent it thru port 1129”. Nobody said anything about this. My hosting company only will let me use the most common ports (80, 8080, 443) because we don’t have a dedicated server.

Linkpoint only uses port 1129 and I think that would have been one of the questions that the sales rep would have told me. I sent him 2 emails and left him 3 messages to call me. He has yet to call me back or answer any of my emails. I think they new this and probably have gotten allot of customers to sign up with them with out this Important info. Because there’s a lot of companies out there that cant access this port. We were sucked in.

Our only choice at this point was to upgrade (would be $30 more a month ) or change hosting companies and that is a real pain in the butt to do. Now remember we were out to save money when we started this. We lost $30 on a setup fee and had to pay xcart $30 to help us out, this was before we new we had to use port 1129 only. So, $60 and three days of my time we are back where we started.

So, before you even think about using Linkpoint as a payment system. Remember, they only use Port 1129 and the Customer service isn’t the best.

This is the opinion of Road Rash Apparel only. Other may have a great relationship with them and I’m glad for them.
